Backing Plates

i put this in a different section of this forum but its better suited here: im trying to replace the dust sheilds and backing plates on a 1 ton 11.5 AAM axle and ive got the 4 bolts loosened where the plates get bolted to the tubes, but i cant remove the shields bc theres something stopping the them from coming off that has a larger OD than the ID of the sheilds.

axle came from a 05 silverado 2500HD with duramax -so 11.5 ring gear full float disc brakes

any help?

  Didn't I read where if Gm does the valve body on the "Allison", you get a 10yr/150k warranty? Kinda wish mine has a minor blip around 24k. Get a free trans service, and a pile of warranty.
