I put a K&N air charger on my 4.8L 2010 Silverado. Fuel mileage was greatly inproved. Works for awile and then the problems started. Not coming up to the proper revs when first starting up. Took it to the dealer and was told that the computer thinks I'm running 40% Ethanol. The K&N had to come off he said. Ran good again so I reinstalled the K&N again just to have the same thing happen. This time it would not start at all. Computer thought it was running 68% Ethanol. I've always used regular fuel. Seemed to be running rich now so they said that an O2 senser was giving out some funny readings. Put a new one on. I just put the K&N back on this morning. The truck seems to be burning rich as you look at the tail pipe and there is alot of carbon. Any thoughts would be great.

Thanks

An over oiled filter can contaminate the maf sensor and cause lots of problems. The K&N only sounds like it's getting better mileage. The stock filter is more than good enough, it just doesn't look as good.

After 3 times, it should be obvious the filter is the problem. The stock filter is capable of more flow than the engine can use.

Then why do I get an extra 120k a tank with the K&N on.

The only way that K&N is giving you a 120k boost is if you arithmatic is off. Or your only going down hill.
