Rough Country Deal

I have a good oportunity to get a 5" RC kit with shocks brand new for 800 shipped to my house from a friend. He bought it but ended up trading his truck in on a new 3500 srw chevy.

Thats a couple hundred bucks cheaper than their kit plus even more with shipping. I am just not sure about it. The only downfall to me is the lack of new front struts. The angles are good and clearance is good. I have heard a lot about the changed designs. Just dont know if I should or if I should still go with the Zone 6" I planned on....

That kit looks to be of a good design. Everything was done correctly with that kit and I haven't read about any serious issues with it. For that price, get it. You could always swap out the spacers for some Bilsteins too. Then you can spend your extra cash on a body lift to gain some extra clearance if need be.

Your still using the stock spring/shock in the front regardless of zone or RC. Longer strut vs spacer on the top of stock strut will achieve the same result, aside from the total lift height.

RC is easier to install, you don't need to take the strut apart.

The zone kit comes with replacement coilbodies. That is a bit different than a spacer.

I think (from what i've heard) that the BDS is the best kit. I also know that the RC 5" kit is the best kit they make. $800 is a good price. I say go for it.
