Afm Quit On It's Own

doing about 62 everything is normal..... go up a hill give it a little gas... afm shuts off as usual but the afm never came back on the rest of the trip no matter what i did.

I shifted it into neutral

I shifted it into 3rd

I shifted it into neutral and shut it off and restarted it

I coasted for a mile with every configuration of throttle you could imagine

no matter what i did, it wouldn't disengage the 4 cylinders

I've had 1 other time this happened but it was because the shifter lever was detented into D but not 100%, i tapped the shifter and it went all they way into D, everything was working except dod so i messed with the shifter position again today and nothing...weird.

It acts just like the feeling you get when it's in 3rd gear and it tries to activate the dod but the tranny locks it out, it's a weird hesitation glitch feel. I can feel it go into 2-lock up, 3, 4 but no dod.

thoughts?

here's a hint:

DOD will only work with the transmission selector in the "D" position. I will not come on in neutral, below speeds of 11 mph, until engine has reached a certain temp, and a few other factors.

probably just a fluke and it'll start working again soon.

Mine has done that two times on me before. When I restarted the truck it went back to normal.

Pretty much just like when my "Service 4wd" came on and I couldn't put it in 4wd. Then I restarted it and 4wd worked again.

If it stays off, you'll have to find out how you did it so the rest of us can disable it too! :)

well, i got back in it an hour later and it was fine... i found the huge list of variables that can prevent the cylinder deactivation and the list is LOOONNNGGGG... if you really want to prevent it from working, you don't need a tuner.

Ok what's the secret? How do you get it to stop working without a tuner?
