2011 Sierra 1500 Exhaust

so im leaning towards getting a SI/DO exhaust system. i was leaning towards getting a flowmaster 50 series delta flow with tips off ebay, with pre bent pipes for 234. considering the muffler is 100+ its not a bad deal. my question is, does GM have a different part # for 2008 with a 4.8, vs a 2011 with a 4.8? the only difference i can see is that the 2011 takes flex fuel.

as for my muffler choice, the 50 series isnt really loud while cruising, hardly any drone with that particular muffler, but once you open her up she barks. but i havent kept a flow master muffler long enough for it to rot out. i plan on keeping this truck so im thinking about getting the smallest magnaflow muffler i can get.

My vote is for magnaflow. I really dislike flowmaster. Also, plan on loosing a mile or two per gallon if you go with the flowmaster. I had them both on my 03 5.3 and hands down, magnaflow made more power over flowmaster and it's all stainless.

2008 exhaust is different than 2009-2011 exhaust, kits are not interchangeable.

A small magnaflow is a good choice, should somewhat loud, and good quality steel. My brother has had 4 different flowmaster mufflers on his truck, its a 2001. so they seem to rot out every 2.5 years

so the 2008 gm exhaust are different. thats good to know. do you know if the 09-11 are the same part number?

why do you say he will lose mpg with a flowmaster? ive never had that problem with any of mine.

I don't know if you will lose MPG or gain any for that matter. But it has been proven they dont help HP like free-flow mufflers. Sometimes Flowmaster actually hurts you on the dyno.
