Hey guys,

Newbie writing from Afghanistan. Had some free time, was browsing, and ran into this sight. Thought I would join knowing I sometimes have questions and could use some friendly advice. I like to tinker with my truck just as everyone on here seems to. I currently don't have a truck, been looking since shortly after I arrived for my next one. Everyone seems to be friendly and offers sound, unbiased advice. Will be back in Tucson by mid April....hopefully.

I'm a welder/machinist in the Air Force. Working on the EC-130 Compass Call. These aircraft are responsible for "jamming" all sorts of signals for the Army/Marines on the ground.

Thanks Jollygreen and welcome from another newbie. I havent did any time in Afghanistan but I have a bunch of time here in Iraq both as a solider and as a contractor so I hear you on missing the things back home. You will be back home before you know it and then you can truck shop all you want.

Welcome! I'm also currently in Afghanistan, my term is just about up. 6+ month tours are quite a spell. Hope you find a good truck when you get back. Keep your head down!

Thanks guys. Can't decide whether I want to go older or newer. I really want an 06-08 2500, Duramax, SLE2 or SLT but might have to settle for an older 1500 with the 5.3 or 6.0. Just don't want a ridiculous monthly payment. Thanks for the welcome.
