I am looking at adding a more aggressive stance to my truck. I want the tires to be about even with the outside of the factory fender flares. I was just wondering what kind of backspacing and offset combo I should be looking into.

You'd probably want a 9" to 10" wide rim and a 4.5-3.750 back spacing.

The 3.75bs would stick out the most.

This is a 10" wide rim and 3.75BS

Most of the wheels Ive looked at were a 17x8, 17x8.5, or a 17x9. I like the Moto Metals, but the ones I waslooking at were a 4.5" BS and a -12 offset. I get the BS, but I still dont understand offset. How would that wheel work on my truck?

BS and offset are basicly the same thing, bs relates the hub in terms of length from the inner wheel lip and offset relates hub position from the center of the rim. offset is more commonly used because it's a finer measurement. The wheels on my truck are -18mm offset and stick out about an inch with no fender flares. factory rims are around +30mm offset.

So if I wanted to get closer to the outer fneder lip, one of the Moto Metals I was looking at with a -12 offset and a 4.5" BS will accomplish this?

The more negative you go in terms of offset, the more it'll stick out. The higher you go in terms of BS, the more it will stick out.

 

 

Youre gonna want to go with about a +0 offset. going with a -12 its going to stick out just a tad more, maybe too much, it will really start to greatly increase your chances of the tires rubbing. A lot of people who run a wheel that gives a stance like you want also run a suspension lift so they can clear the tires better.

your half right.. the more negative you go with offset the more it will stick out.. however the backspace is wrong. The greater the backspace, the more tucked it will be. a wheel with a backspace of 5.75 is close to factory specs while a wheel with a backspace of 4.5 will stick out 1.25" more than the factory type wheel.

After looking at my truck, the tire sticks out about exactly as far as the fender flare does. These are 285/70/17s.

 

nice I kinda thought they would stick about about a CM or so past the flares.. I guess they would stick out a good bit if you were running a big tire.. So thats something the OP should consider. If he isnt running a lift i would imagine he will be at 285s or less.

Thats the setup I was looking at. I was concidering running a 285 or a 295. If I have to, Ill install the Zone 3.5" combo lift. Ide love to run a 305, but I think that will be too wide.

 

Do you have any pictures of your truck?

    • The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.  
    • Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
    • I can't believe that could possibly be the case. It should be 36mo/100k miles from installation. Then again, it also seems like since a dealership installed it, it'd all be in the system and you wouldn't need to worry about registering, either. Shows you what I know. 😄 Hope this one outlives the warranty!
    • I haven't seen inventory recovery from COVID.    In the few random times I 'build my own' truck or SUV, no one has the exact one I want.   GM has been working to lower incentives too for a long time.    A $500 incentive isn't getting me off the couch to go truck shopping.
