Im running 285 70 17 Goodyear Duratracs on my 07 silverado. Iv been running them at 60 psi but I have been told to run them somewhere around 40psi. Im really annoying of my indicator inside saying my tires have to much air because they are set for the factory tires at 35 psi. I mostly drive e-way. and through downtown. I dont do much wheelin. If anyone could help me out, that would be great. Thaknks

If thats the pressure your going to use then have your dealer reprogram the TPMS to that pressure.I had to have mine done beacuse the 35's I have run 65psi.

For a truck our size recommended PSI is anywhere around 35-45 PSI.

 

For Jeeps and compact trucks its 30-40 PSI.

 

For 3/4 ton trucks you run higher PSI like 60-75 PSI along with load range E tires. Depends on towing.

well I want to run my psi at whatever the recommended pressure is. If 40 psi is what I should run them at, then i shouldn't have to go to the dealer to reset them. It seems like its more of a preference as long as im under 65psi. But id like to know what pressure to run them for better gas mileage and what will help the wear of the tread.

I don't know what the recommended psi for that tire is. But I'm pretty sure the tighter the psi the better the gas mileage. Higher psi does make the ride more uncomfortable though. You might try 40-45 psi. I can't be tight enough to hurt them I don't think and it should be tight enough for best fuel mileage.

How do you like those tires btw? I'm thinking about getting some.

I absolutly love the tires. Very quite and handle great on the e-way. Iv done a little wheelin and noticed a big differance compared to the stock tires. They even hook up alot better on the snow coverd roads, which ruins some of the fun of doin donuts and whatnot but are definitly easier to handle. all around great tire, and i have about 8000 miles on them, no sign of ware

If they are load range C then max pressure is 50psi cold. Load range E can go up to 80psi. If you have E I would put em around 50 unloaded for a good balance on economy and wear.

I run 35-40 in my load range E, 285 70's. I had the dealer reset the "magic number" to 40 psi, so I can bump them up to 50 when towing without the sensors freaking out. There is no need to run 60 psi in an empty 1500. Your gas mileage wont be any better then 40 psi, but the ride will be much more harsh.
