Loosen Swar Bar During Leveling Kit Install?

Recommended Posts

How critical is it to loosen the sway bar ends during a leveling kit install? Would it hurt to just loosen the upper ball joint and the remove the strut? If I didn't loosen it would it be more beneficial to have both front tires off the ground at the same time so the sway bar is more even?

I am taking a below the strut leveling kit off and adding an above the strut kit. The height should not change so that is my motivation to not loosen anything I don't have to. I did loosen it during the first install.

I didn't have to loosen the upper ball joint when i did mine, just the sway bar comletely loosened and the rough country blocks popped in with some "encouragement" :D

Just did mine today. Removed the two bolts holding the bottom of the strut, then loosened the swaybar until the nut was about to come off. Used a couple of pry bars and popped the blocks in. The passenger side needed a lot more encouragement than the drivers side. Took 30 - 40 minutes total to get the entire job done. Defiantly helped having a second person prying with prybars while I put the bolts in.

Just read the first post completely. If you remove the two bolts holding the bottom of the strut, I'm sure you can just pry the lift block out without touching the swaybar. I tried installing my blocks without loosening the swaybar, but that didn't work too well.
