2000 blazer concentric slave culinder. Replaced clutch kit and slave cylinder. Now can't get the slave to bleed tryed:

1)repeatedly open bleed press clutch close bleeder

2)Opening and closing bleeder while slowly depressing clutch.

3) front end jack way up in the air.

I know the trick on the early hydro clutch with the exterior push rod was you had to jack the front end way up while you bleed them.

Anyone know the trick to the one please help gotta drive it tommorrow.

Haven't had to do a clutch cylinder, but if it is anything like brakes, press clutch, open bleeder, close bleeder, release clutch. Repeat.

I would not open the bleeder other than when the clutch pedal is on the floor.

If you replaced everything, it is all air at this point, so you will need to repeat the steps numerous times.

Ok tried bleeding it with the passenger side jacked up in the air. At this point i've laid under this thing for hours and my cross country runner teenager's legs are shot.... I'm just not getting any volume of fluid out of it it won't gravity bleed. When I try to bleed it normal I don't get any either. The only time I can get something out of it is when I open the bleeder a jam the sh-- out of the clutch pedal and even then its not a lot. This thing is - :P ing me off.....

BTW, Who decided to make the end of the bleeder screw HEXAGONAL so you can't get a hose on it??

Today I found a service bulletin that says I need a $60 dollar mity vac adapter that replaces the clutch master cylinder filler cap. I'm supposed to repeatedly pull 15 to 20 inches of vacuum on the system until no bubbles appear or the fluid no longer goes down. Then pump the pedal it until the clutch gets firm..?..??.. This is the first time I've read a service bulliten that sounded like the auther wasn't quite sure of himself. I'm going to try to make an adapter tonight and give it a try.. We'll see..

I would really like to hear from someone that has actually had success bleeding this set-up and has developed a proven technique... There has to be an easy way.. There's too many of these things running around......

It sounds like i'm hating on this truck , but It only took 247000 (HARD) miles and a teenage driver to finally kill the clutch, engine still runs perfect. Stick that too your Toyota...

i have always just used a big syringe to bleed clutches. first get a big syringe, usually just go to local farm store, fill with brake fluid, hook hose between syringe and slave cylinder, open bleeder screw, push fluid in. it works best if you leave you master empty and have someone watch so you don't push fluid out of master all over car. i have used this method at least twenty times and it always works. if you get a big enough syringe you only have to do it once.

ok now installed a 1/4 by 1/8 fitting in the cap repeatedly pulled vacuum 20 inches on MC as instucted by GM. nothing so far

I can use the pump and push a little fluid out of of the bleeder screw. so its not plugged

I like the idea of the syringe but the bleeder is hexagonal a hose wont seal..

what has worked for me on other clutch slave cylinders is to remove the slave remove the line hold it line side up at about a 45* angle fill the slave uncompressed with a syringe untill its completely full with no air left in it, hook the line up and then compress the slave by hand, this should force fluid up from the slave threw the line and into the master cyl there by removing most of the air from the line, at this point the slave can be re-installed you may still have some air in the line but you should be able to actuate the clutch by this point, although it may still drag and not have full travel. drive it for a few miles and it should work the rest of the air out. if you can find a good washboard dirt road it will take care of any remaining air pretty quick.

LESSON LEARNED: When replacing clutch kit and slave cylinder spend the extra $50 and get a new clutch master cylinder and line..

Repleced it and four bleeds and 15 or so pumps of the clutch is acting as it should..works great... I guess it decided it wanted to be replaced too.... Go figure.
