I know the majority of us here have 4x4 but out of curiosity how far will you take your 2wd...speed,terrain conditions, weather and so on

i had a 2wd in michigan for 3 years and never got stuck in the snow (got pretty deep too) or off road except once where i was just pure stupid about it. they can be pretty beefy. but you just cant beet 4x4.

The main issue I've found with taking my 2wd off road is the weight of the front end plowing into the ground. I've never had traction issues based on my tires or g80. Of course my grille guard and iron block v8 don't help with the front end weight. Therefore, I don't intentionally take my truck offroad, but the few times something "happened" and it was unavoidable, its done great, and I've never been stuck.

Fastest I've had it was 125mph and as far as off road, I've had it in some muddy fields and down some some muddy farm land roads. Nothing to crazy or to far for me to get someone to help pull me out if needed. My first vehicle was a 87' Ford Ranger 2wd and I always got stuck with that. My second vehicle was an 84 Supra and that thing never seemed to get stuck but except my first winter with it and I hit ice and did a 180 on the highway. I had to back off the road or get hit so I got stuck in the ditch then. not had a chance to drive the Silverado in the snow yet (got it after I moved to Texas).

no drinking involved this time, i just recalled when i use to read fullsizechevy.com they had a section dedicated to 2wd offroading...i myself have had snow up to the lug nuts with no problems and mud deep enough to cover the sidewalls of the tires with no issues...i've had the g80 kick in maybe twice but most of the time i don't need it, ground clearance is my main concern sometimes i have to go get firewood out in a field and i generally survey what i'll be driving on before i even get in the truck, just to make sure i don't bottom out or fall into a crater...

didnt you have a post like the same question as this?

if i had a winch or someone to tow me out and i had a 2wd, id go anywhere

People brake my ba*** every day about going with another 2WD truck !!! 2007 NBS w/G80

My viewpoint is if you're not plowing and your not doing major offroading, 4WD is a waste. I think the 4WD is more of a gimmick then anything.

I don't get a ton of snow by me, but we do get snow. Little weight and good tires and your set
