Brake Controller Problem

I recently hooked up a Prodigy P2 brake controller in my truck and I hooked up a test circuit to try it out. I used LED lights put into a scrap piece of C-perlin and wired to a 7-pin pigtail. Everything works great except the light I hooked up to the brake signal wire. I noticed that the light blinks and the box reads a short code.

Does the brake box require resistance in order to work properly?

No, I meant the a trailer needs to be plugged in for resistance inorder for the controller to work

A large bulb, such as an old headlight of fog light instead of the LED should work.

That helped. I tried two of the square taillights wired in with the LED and it worked enough for a positive test.

I would have just hooked up to the trailer, but its being borrowed right now so I had to rig up a test light. I guess they work.
