Slight Belt Squeal

Where do I start? Do I just replace the belt?

I only have 25k miles on the truck but I'm getting a slight squeal in the cold morning. Starts a few seconds after I start the truck and is worse when there's moisture in the air. 30 miles to work and the noise is gone

I have read several old threads on this of an updated GM part number that guys are using. And several say gatorback is the way to go

Could it be something else

You can use a Gates belts or the Goodyear belts. Either is a great belt. Don't forget you've got 2 belts. I'd start by checking that the squeal is a belt and not a bearing. Make sure all the pulleys are clean

This is actually a pretty neat trick and a temp fix at that. Make sure that all your pulleys and bearing are good. Make sure the pulleys are clean from oil and grease. If it still squeaks, get a bar of soap and put a bit on both sides of the belt. Done it on mine and helped me.

I had same thing on mine recently.. Ended up buying dayco belts for serp belt and ac.. while i was at it i replaced pullys and tensioners to with dayco's..

Sounds smooth as glass now.

For how cheap the pullys and tensioners are , i;d suggest replacing them while your in there..

Its so slight. I think its like this due to it not being driven a lot in the last few months

Its an 07 with 25'k that I bought in january and haven't driven it

It was also sitting at the dealer for 3 months prior

Anyone else have this issue ?

Have you been driving it? Is it still squealing? If so try changing the belt.

The belt could be getting a little loose and starting to slip, making a small squeal. If it is as small as you say it is, STP makes a spray called Belt Dressing which you spray onto the belt and pulleys while the engine is running. That will help with the occasional squeal go away. If that doesn't work, replace the belts with high quality aftermarket belts. Dayco, Goodyear, Gates are all great but personally, I like the gates belts which are availble from rock auto.com or from Napa as their Micro-v belts.

Yes, I had the same issue at around 30,000 miles. Would squeal in the mornings, and be gone when I got to work (35) miles. I put what is called "belt dressing" from autozone, and it made it worse. 25,000 miles? Thats what warranty is for. They fixed mine, and haven't had a problem. Two other people here at work with NNBS's are starting to do the same thing. Just take it in, warranty will fix it.

You said in original post that the truck only has 25k. How is the bumper to bumper gone?
