Steering

i know we probably all have this. The wheel seems like it's shaking, you hear the annoying sound of the steering shaft wiggleing in there. you take it in and all they do is grease it, It goes away for 6 months and then it's back. Is there a permanent fix for this? I'm sick of taking my truck in?

Mine is actually in the shop as I type for same - this is my first instance - hope its not recurring.  If it happens more than 2 or 3 times I'd make them replace it.

they replaced mine a yr and a half ago and the problem came back worse (whining when turning)

So far so good.  Been almost 2 months

The first time I had mine repaired the problem came back in a week or two and was much worse than before.  I had it repaired again and it has been rock solid ever since.

I talked to the tech guy and asked him why it started doing it again so fast.  He explained that you have to do the repair exactly the right way and then put a plug on the top of the shaft.  He also changed the grease in mine from white to black or vica versa...  I can't remember which...  either way he said it didn't have the correct grease in it.
