Led Bed/cargo Area Lighting...

Hello all,

Planning to do a under the rail LED bed/cargo light strip(s) install on my 2011 2500HD 6.6ft box and was hoping someone on the board would have installation tips regarding what to wire to "tap" into and also a clean finished install of how to get wires from the under-rail LED lighting to the power source.

Has anyone done one of these installs that can/would be willing to offer input?

Thanks much,

-John

Here is a link to pictures of mine. I ran the wires from each strip toward the center of the bed sides. You can run the wires down thru there, there is a gap between the inside sheet metal and the out side sheet metal. I ran the passenger side wires back to the bumper and then over to the driver side tail light. The driver side wires back to the bumper and then up to the tail light. I mounted the switch in the round hole in the driver side steak hole. I tapped into the 12V+ at the 7-pin for power. Sorry I don't have pictures of the install but I will try and help with any questions you might have.

Thanks for the info SparkySparks! Do you thing the 1/2 ton has the same box structure/seams/openings as the 3/4 ton truck? In other words, do you think I can use the same wire routing as you?

Thanks,

I'm not positive but I would thing they would be the same, you can test it like I did by using an extension cord or robe or wire as long as it has some weight to it. Run the cord into the hole in the middle of the bed side and look for it to drop out under the truck.
