So I found a good deal on a truck, but it may be from Calif. I'm in Mo. How cn I tell if it is CXalif. or Fed emissions? I have a 06 and it kinda says both. Reads conforms to federal regulations and is certified for sale in Califinia. So which is it? The truck I'm looking at is a 06 als. What is the difference and I've read cats and other parts are specific to Calif. regulations. They also cost more. Can I convert to fed emissions and if so what needs done?

Thanks I'll make a note of that for when I go look at it. Does anyone have anymore input on the differences? I know in the old days they got worse fuel milage and ran poorly. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Newer vehicles from GM are certified 50 state emissions CA and some other states get a second Certification test at the assembly plant.

Not the trucks. They can still be ordered with federal emissions compliance only which won't meet CA standards (and in turn the other states that follow CA emission laws). My truck has a northeast region emissions system because every other state in this area (except NH) follows CA rules so almost all inventory up here is spec'd to that level so dealer trades can happen.
