Hey guys I can get some KMC XD 17x9 wheels from my cousin for $100. I looked them up and found the offset is -12, +18. I have no idea what that means compared to the stock 8 lug wheels. I have 285-75-16s on now with no issues. The pickup is lifted 1" with cranked torsion bars. I plan to get some 295-70-17s with these wheels if they will fit. I don't want to do a lot of trimming or deal with rubbing if I can help it. I'll just stick with what I have now if that's the case. Anyone tried this combo on a gmt800?

Thanks, Matt

Well, those 1500HD trucks don't sit much higher than the regular 1500's. A friend of mine had one a few years ago, and he couldn't even fit 285's without cranking the bars a lot. If those wheels are -12, you won't have a chance. Positive offset is a must. Even if they are +18, I still don't think they'll fit unless you crank the bars all the way & cut parts of the inner fender (which can be done without too much trouble because it's just plastic). The factory rims are only 6.5" wide, with a positive offset...so they're tucked in pretty far. Plus, a 295 is a big tire, at over 33" tall. As a point of reference, my dad put 0 offset 16x8 rims with 265's on his 2500HD...and still had to crank the bars and trims the inner fenders...and they still rubbed once in a while. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just don't think they'll fit without more cranking...and some trimming.

Mine is almost as tall as a 2500hd. I put the 285s on before I cranked the t bars and had plenty of room. I even had 285s on my '01 2wd 1500 with no rubbing. The 295s are only .5" wider and .5" taller than the tires I have now. I guess I don't understand what those numbers mean on wheels. What is the stock wheel offset? I guess the XD wheels will stick out a lot further and rub when I turn? I could see where they might rub on the bumper plastic but that's easy to trim. I'm not sure about inner clearance for the swaybar though.

They will fit, but will rub some. If your wheels are +18, they will fit much better. If they are -12, then you may have issues. I had an 03 1500 HD with about a 2" crank and it was barely lower than my buddies 1500 with a 3" body lift and 2" crank. Anyway, I ran 305/55/20 Nitto Terras on a 20x9 (+18). I had to use a rubber mallet to work some of the inside fender metal back, but you couldn't see it. The tires would rub occassionally, but not a lot.

Thanks for the info. KMC's website shows both -12, +18 so I'm not sure what that means. I'm half tempted to go find a used 295 tire and mount it to see how close it's going to be.

I got the wheels and decided to go with 285-70 10 ply terra graplers. They're getting mounted this friday along with new ball joints, idler and pitman arms. I bought a used 285 to do some test fitting and there was no rubbing at all. I'll post some pics up this weekend.
