BlackZ71Silverado Posted May 13, 2011 Posted May 13, 2011 About 2 month ago, I removed my ugly factory gold bowties front and rear and replaced them with billet style ones. I ordered them from "stylintrucks" at $50 each front and rear, made by "Street Scene" . I noticed today while in the garage, they both seem to be pitting already. The rear bowtie looks like crap, the finish is very wavy, it looks terrible close up. Never really noticed it until tonight. Anybody else have issues with the billet chrome bowties? I thought they would last, it hasen't even been 6 months and they look like crap. Which ones are top quality? Looks like I'll be replacing them again soon.
WVMountaineer Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 Are these the same one sold on Ebay by Street Scene?
mhenshaw Posted May 18, 2011 Posted May 18, 2011 I bought the AMI front bowtie over a year ago and mine looks fine. I live in the south so I won't get near as much rusting or pitting as you. AMI Bowtie Also I wax mine twice a year when I wax my grille.
bauer100 Posted May 26, 2011 Posted May 26, 2011 I bought a set directly from GM http://www.chevymall.com/Billet-Accessories/products/278/ The front emblem bolts on, the rear one uses double sided tape. No issues with them so far after 3 months.
BlackZ71Silverado Posted May 29, 2011 Author Posted May 29, 2011 Thanks for the replies. I am going to try the GM brand one and see if it's any better. My front one isn't really all that bad, it's the rear one that is wavy and looks like crap.
cracked_up Posted May 29, 2011 Posted May 29, 2011 Here is my 3D Bowtie. I removed the clear cover from the gold, applied carbon fiber 3/m decal to billet and secured that over the original black plastic that I painted red. My accent's colors on the truck will be chrome, red and silver/gray. Let me know what you think. I haven't seen this done before? Thanks!
