Hey all,

Got my'11 Silverado in Dec. It's a crew cab Z71, Steel Green Metallic. Only mods so far are Line-x liner, Westin oval nerf bars (my 5'3" wife is expecting so these were a must), mudflaps (not normally my style but needed), and Extang Solid Fold cover. Love the truck, last truck was an '88 Gmc std cab, long bed (great truck). New job required crew cab. Put a little over 10,000 miles (mostly highway miles, some construction sites) on it since Dec. Averaging 17.7 mph and saw no increase with the cover.

Only complaints; parking brake pedal sometimes won't catch, chrome trim in ac vent missing, and the biggie- paint quality seems low. First week I had truck noticed multiple chips on rockers, hence the mudflaps. Today while washing the truck noticed a 2" crack in the paint on the leading edge of the hood. Am I expecting too much out of the paint quality?

Hope to contribute as well as ask on here.

Welcome! As for the paint holding up, I wouldn't expect any cracks, but I don't know of anything that won't get a few rock chips.

Thanks, I expect some rock chips, but the crack has me puzzled and ill. There are no scratches in the area and when I washed only bug guts. Must of been one heck of a bug.

Thought I'd try to throw in a few photos, including the crack;

Welcome.

Near Boone myself, but not in Boone. Best wishes to another Western NC member! By the way where did you buy your truck? What does the dealer say about the paint?

Hey sorry for the delay. Been a little busy lately. Wife and I just had our second child. Haven't made it to the dealer yet to see what they say, hope to in a couple of weeks.

I looked at several and end up going over to Boyds in Hendersonville. Was very pleased with sales staff. They just recently obtained the Chevy line from Hunters, which was also in Hendersonville.

I'd definitely let the dealer take a look at that. Congrats on the child. Crew trucks are nice for a family. Have two boys myself. Good luck

Thanks for all the welcomes. Been a busy few weeks. Finally got to the dealership about the crack. Good and bad. Good that the paint and body supervisor himself looked at it and fixed it in less than two minutes. Bad that I looked like a freakin moron.

I have washed and scrubbed this truck regularly. I even cleaned the edge of the hood of bug guts twice in hopes of making it to the dealership. I mean I scrubbed it and got all the bug guts off.

The paint and body guy walks out and looks at it, sticks his fingernail down to it (like I'd done), and flaked it right off. Still don't know what it was.

May have looked like a moron, but I was a relieved moron:D

Thought you'd all get a kick out of this.

Good news and congrats on the new kid. I am from Eastern, NC (Hubert, outside of Jacksonville) myself. The crew cab trucks sure make life a lot more tolerable for the extra crew.
