Ratchet TOW strap???

This is strange, when someone was trying to pull me out, the tow strap broke. I asked if it was something special, because I'm going to replace it, and he said it was just an ol' tow strap. I've been looking in stores and on the web, my dad talked to a truck driver in the farm store we were looking in, and he said they don't make them. what the guy had had the tow strap hooks, and a ratchet, like a tie down has.

Any of you know if these are made?

I'm thinking:

1.) he put a tow strap on a ratchet

2.) it was a tie down

3.)I found a "race car" tie down on line that looked very similar.

nope, not a come along, looked exactly like a 8,000 tie down with tow strap ends. it wasn't made out of a cable either, just like a material tie down

They make them for ATVs.  I have not seen one for a truck. But, the amount of arm strength required would mean at least 22 inch arms.  I have seen stuck ATVs with 28-inch tires too stuck to come out with one and required winching. Black Max is one.

Check BassPro.com and Cabellas. Look in the ATV section. If you need a link, here is one:

Keep in mind, this is for an ATV, but will give an idea of what I think you mean.

I guess I'll just contact the guy and ask him where he got it, or if he wants me to just pay for it.

The ATV one you show'ed isn't it, the ratchet set up is diffeent, the set-up the guy had was exactly like a tie-down one. I guess he just had a tie down.

Was it Yellow and about 3" in width?

If so, I have like 6 of them that I bought at Sam's club eons ago.  They work fantastic.  The one strap (with hook) is like 20-30 feet long and then theres the ratchet end with it's own hook.

They are made by Allied.  If you can't find them at Sam's (or don't have a membership), go to www.northerntool.com they have quite a few varieties.

Yea, I've had mine a few years too.

I've pulled stuff out with them, used them to pull motors forward while I work on them (GM FWD), tie down trucks to my trailer, etc, etc.

Used them a few weeks ago to secure heavy stuff that I moved to my trailer.

We have them at work. Only they're called "Draw-bar recovery kits" They are for towing rail cars should a draw bar happen to be pulled out. They even come in handy little carrying case.

They come up missing a lot  :(
