Nnbs Single Flowmaster Help?

my plan is to replace stock muffler with a flowmaster.

i know that my stock pipe is 3" and 2.75 after muffler. i was thinking just a 3" flowmaster muffler with a reducer after it, all welded in nice and neat, with a stainless rolled edge tip at the end of the stock pipe. neat, clean, agressive.

what my question is, has anybody on here done this? i did a search and couldn't come up with anything. i am wondering how long of a patch pipe will i need, whether or not i should get offset in/out, ect. this truck is my dd, so i have to have everything i need in my garage before i chop it. it would make my day if somebody had a few pictures of this type of job aswell.

thanks in advance

come on guys dont do this to me. i know somebody here has done it.....

I had a "Street" Flowmaster put on my '02 Silverado, the guy that did mine did it as you suggested and made a sweet install of it. However, if you want a little noise don't put on the "Street" model it gave my '02 a constant drone sound and could actually put you to sleep on a long trip. I replaced my with a Cheery Bomb just to get away from the drone sound, not happy with it either but no drone, just quite... Hope this helps some..

i guess the main thing i need to know is which type of muffler i need. do i need center or ofset inlet/ outlet? if i knew that i could get the right muffler and figure out the rest. i dont really have a lift to pick it up so i can see what i need :/

I took it to the local shop (which I never do), they put on a 2.5" inlet/outlet and expanded it out to match the stock pipe. Welded it in, only took an hr at best. Under $100, been on for 3 yrs, not overly loud, no real help in power or mpg. Save youself the headache and let them do it.

Its on youtube to listen.

research my name on here..

i checked around at the local shops and they all wanted somewhere between the 150-200 dollar range. if there was a reputable shop in town that would do it for 100, i would defanitally go that route. i wish your shop was in my town :/

Anyone else do this? It should be way cheaper than buying complete system. What muffle is recommended though and do anyone make just a muffler that will not sound too sick in 4-cylinder mode or give highway drone?
