What Is This Wire?

While waiting for my new head unit to arrive I decided to pull out everything needed to replace the old unit. I want to keep the old radio in to be able to use the clock from it. I notice the wires from the radio plug in to the bottom of the receiver and im assuming this plug isnt used on the new radio...thus I could keep the old receiver in and keep the old radio plugged in. Does anyone know if this will work to use the clock? Also, there is 2 white wires on the plug on the radio, what is the white wire on the outside edge of the plug, it is spliced via another plug in to the plug for the front speakers...see pic...

 

 

I checked the wiring diagram in my haynes manual but it only showes one white wire on the plug and it says it is for "data."

I JUST pulled my radio out Sunday lol. Do you have a cassette/EQ under the vents?

I think that goes to the flux capacitor.
