Lecar Top On Crew Cab

Has anyone ever attempted to put an accordion style fabric top on a Sierra Crew Cab? I have a 2004 Sierra Crew Cab and would like to do this. I like the idea of an open top (convertible) but no one makes a 5 seater. This would be the best of both worlds.

 

I assume with a body on frame design means that the roof is not exactly a Structural piece. Any opinions?

If so, i researched for a long time, pulled down the headliner with techs and went over it again and again. In the end, I ended up riding in a Jeep with the "rag top" and it was noisier than I wanted. Went this route instead:

This would be a GOOD second choice. I was thinking of something like this.

Did you have an istaller put in the sun roof(s) or do it yourself?

yes, Texas Auto Tops installed both for me.

 

Here was my first choice:

- didnt work out since this model was out of production and I couldnt find any complete units

 

second choice:

- as mentioned above, too noisy

 

as shown in my photobucket account, i went with two popups for several reasons:

- Amount of weight that would be added

- Noise different (slightly quieter than stock)

- Uniqueness

- Price for either 1st, 2nd or 3rd choice was almost the same so that wasnt an issue

 

overall, it does not give the feeling of the Cadillac Ultraview (or first choice) but it does make a big difference.

When I saw the title, I thought I was going to see a picture of a Renault (?) LeCar on top of a truck.
