Fuel Pump Bad?

I have a 1995 C1500 with the 350, 2WD. I stopped for something cold to drink today, got back in the truck and it wouldn't start. Cranked strong, but wouldn't start. I swapped the distributor and rotor, no luck. I then took off the air intake and looked at the injectors (TBI) while a buddy cranked it, and saw no gas. I beat the gas tank with a hammer while he cranked and it started. Without turning the truck off I grabbed a new pump from O'Reilly on the way home. Now that I'm home, I tried it again and it starts fine, has 7-8 times now over the last hour. Do I have a few limited starts left in that thing, or should I just keep drving it? It's got 255k miles and it my daily driver/work truck.

Thanks

It probably is the pump with that mileage, but did you happen to notice if the Security Light was flashing on the dash? It will shut off the fuel injectors when activated. It is a common malfunction on GM vehicles.

I didn't see the security light flashing. But I also have OBDI since it's a '95, it's Throttle body injected. I'm on my way downstairs to begin swapping it out now.

Thanks
