Pcv Connector Replacement Possible?

A friend of mine has an 04 Avalanche with a 5.3. He pulled on the pcv line on the drivers side and the connector on top of the intake snapped off. We went to the dealer and the mechanics said that you just give it a half turn and it pops right out. I put pliers on it and it won't budge. (they may be thinking of newer vehicles) I didn't want to put too much pressure on it and break it more. The service guy looked through the computer and couldn't find anything and said he thinks it comes as part of the intake assembly and that costs over $1300.

 

Is this piece removable? We just plugged it off for the time being.

I am not sure about the fitting. But if you need to get a new intake I looked it up on rockauto.com.
