A different kind of truck test

I tend to give more credit to this test than those given by Consumer Reports, Motor Trend, or 4Wheel and Off-Road.  Course, I'm sure most of you will disagree.

1)  Ford SD w/ 6.0L Stroke

2)  Dodge HD w/ 5.9L Cummins

3)  GMC HD w/ 8.1L

4)  Chevy w/ 6.6L Duramax

5)  GMC Denali w/ Quadrasteer

6)  Toyota Tundra

Farm truck test

Well, to me it just looked like all the other Truck Tests out there.

They complained about how the Ford was too Noisey, too Rough of a ride, and all that other hogwash I've been coming acustomed to hearing from all the "Mainstream" car testers out there.

BUT, looks to me like they do put these trucks through a good test, and I guess theydeserve credit for that. :D

Looks like a good test Jp.  Of course I just can't understand how they can complain about the noise of the 6.0L Stroke.  The sound of a big, powerful diesel is great :thumb: .  The new Superduties are looking great, can't wait to get my hands on one of those. :D

i still won't really believe any of these "tests" that are published. they are either biased or paid off no matter who comes out on top. its all a game to pray on the un-informed  personally i have never been able to stand the ugly looks of ford trucks, never cared much for dodge either, and now the new silverado scares me. oh well.

I want to know what kind of response this is???  Where in gods name could you mount the 4wd buttons to make this guy happy?!?!  Its a freakin button....how hard is that to push???

Leonard Korte: The Chevy Diesel is very quiet. It might be easier to get the truck into 4-wd if Chevy changed the dash position of the 4-wd button.

After reading this article...its just as biased as any other "truck test".

I am not for the buttons. Got a lever amd manual hubs?

:D   Right on!!!

As for the test, I'm suprised they even considered the Toyota.   Yeah it's supposedly "full size" but everyone knows it's not.

From a standing start on the track, the Sierra screamed and shifted quickly through the gears. It had enough snappy power to outrun the big diesels. Lead-foot David Linstad kept breaking the Sierra's rear tires loose on his drag-strip-style starts.

RIGHT ON! :D

But from a rolling start, the automatic transmission's hesitant downshift caused some drivers to doubt the truck's abilities if it had to pull a heavy trailer at interstate speeds. Unfortunately, we didn't have the trailer equipment on hand to test that theory.

I HAVE noticed this and as a matter of fact, I'm not sure if it had a BCM fart or something mechanical went array, but this weekend, it had one spell where it was it felt almost as if it had slipped or extended hesitation on a roll.  It was one of those coming up to a stop sign, turning right in a "no cop, no stop" fashion when it did this.

However to answer these guys question about this when loaded?  It's never happened when I've had the trailer out back.

I simply think that all planets were in alignment and the cow kicked over the lantern type of things.  Otherwise I've never noticed it.

QUOTE FROM STEVE WEBB:

I thought the Toyota was a bit out of place in this field. But for what it was, it was a top performer. There's a need on the farm for trucks like this. It would make a good parts runner.

That is hilarious.....

:D

Ok the point of that was???? of course the farmers are going to like the new diesels in the other trucks..plus most farmers are baised to the Dodge and Ford diesel's anyway do to GM's less then desirable last three diesels.  Whoever the guy was that said that the controls where to hard to figure out must be a panzy.. As for the Tundra building a 3/4 ton pickup I don't know how smart of a move that is... 3/4 ton pickups are domestic owned...and I know that my buddies who work at toyoata will never buy a toyota 3/4 ton truck and they are built in KY so...Toyota is doing going selling the 1/2 ton if I were them I would be glad to have the market segment I have and not bite a hog in the ass with the 3/4 ton platform.  Just my $0.02
