Another Detailing Aide I Made Up

Previously I had posted pictures of a wash cart I made up to keep everything handy and not scattered all aroung my driveway when washing my vehicles (first pic below).

 

My latest aide is a work light on casters to push ahead of me when sitting on my caster seat and moving down a panel while detailing the sides, front and rear of my vehicles.

 

I can see the hood and top OK with the overhead lights in my garage but had trouble seeing the vertical surfaces. I was using a work light sitting back on the floor to light up a side but it wasn't bright enough and my body would cast a shadow on the vehicle.

 

I got a 15" wood disc from Lowes and screwed some casters on the bottom. I then mounted a fluorescent light on it and another light on a PVC pipe also mounted to the disc. I didn't glue the PVC connectors so I can use a longer piece of pipe when detailing the Hoe which is tall and a shorter pipe when doing my other vehicles. The bottom light is not necessary but I already had it and it does help in seeing the quarter panels and bumpers.

 

I used fluorescent lights because I hate the heat generated by halogen lights and I like the whiter (color temperature) light you can get in fluorescent ones. Just thought I'd share.

It is not top heavy like it may look. I used 5 casters for stability and the wood disc is somewhat heavy while the light is not. If I didn't use the bottom light I would lower it some to center the top light to the side of the vehicle. Yea, the Hoe is dirty.
