Hey guys,

Quick question.

My current exhaust system is made out of aluminized steel and is beginning to develop some rust holes which result in it sounding very bad.

I am interested in getting a corsa DB system. How do people like them? My understanding is the muffler and tip are t-304 stainless. What are the pipes made out of and will it be more rust resistant than just aluminum steel.

I appreciate any feedback.

Thanks.

Edit: I should have proofread what I wrote. I didn't mean aluminum steel, I meant aluminized.

Bump....has anyone installed the corsa db?

Try searching youtube, there are some sound bites on there of people that have them

dB uses stainless steel, just not the same grade as the more expensive Corsa systems (409 vs 309 I think). This grade may get surface rust but it should not rust through. I've had my dB exhaust for almost 3 weeks now and not a spec of rust! Seriously though, it sounds great. I have a thread here and in the product review section and there is a video link in both threads.

Thank you for the responses. I have heard a lot of youtube videos, as well as read all of the threads about them here on gm-trucks. However, from my research of the Corsadb site and here, i was unable to find out if the piping was stainless steel. My current exhaust is just mild steel which has been aluminized, and after 6 years, rust holes are starting to develop. I'm leaning towards replacing with corsa db. Thanks!

I had the Corsa DB installed on my '10 GMC about 6 weeks ago. Very impressed with this catback system. I had the Magnaflow catback before and piping is the same as far as I know. It is stainless, just not as high grade as Corsa. That's why you pay the premium price for Corsa. DB Muffler and tip are of high quality stainless though. Over all its a great catback system. Sounds awesome and the 4" slashcut tip is sharp looking, a lot nicer than the double tip on the Corsa IMO. I am a big fan of the deep rumble sound from Magnaflow but this DB sound is sweet. A nice low tone rumble for every day driving and when you walk on it growls so loud...I love it.

Well, I bit the bullet and finally placed an order for my Db kit. Summit racing was out of stock, so I ended up finding it on Amazon with the same part number and in stock. With free shipping and no tax, it cost me 519 out the door. I got the confirmation email that it had been shipped all of 3 hours later. I am expecting delivery around July 13th, however I will be out of town the whole week through the 21st, so I will be installing it then.

Can't wait to hear/see the kit! Thanks guys!

Well, the UPS man dropped off a little present for me last night. And like a kid at Christmas, though I expected to wait until this weekend to put it on, I went ahead and was laying on the driveway under my truck putting the kit on last night. I was done by 8:30, with the hardest part being removal of my other system. It turned out, I had some exhaust leaks in front of the muffler on the other system, which made it sound really bad.

The corsa kit is absolutely the highest quality craftsmanship I have seen. Everything down to even how the instruction booklet was put in the box, as well as the packaging was pristine. I installed it and the claims everyone else had made are absolutely true. Fit and finish are the best I've ever seen on an exhaust system, and the sound is absolutely awesome. I was all smiles driving down the road last night.

My camera is 2 hours away at my house but I will try to get a video this weekend to upload. It sounds very similar to Mike's video. Overall, very please!

just a heads up. Not sure of your future plans but if you intend on adding headers in the future that cat back will sound totall different. Not in a bad way just way different than it is now.

Glad ya like it! They do indeed pack it very securely- I just got around to bringing the box and packing materials to the dump today and that box was a pain in the ass to chop up to fold it flat. :rollin: Everything on mine has held together great- I crawled under it last Friday to make sure none of the clamps had loosened and they were still nice and snug.

Thanks for the heads up. I don't have any future plans to do any other exhaust work or add headers, but I can see how it would! Just out of curiosity, what does it change sound wise?

Because anything can change exhaust tone- pipe size, how it's bent and even the tip can change the note. So something major like headers will change it too.

Thats kind of what I figured. Well, I like how it sounds for sure! This is really the last major mod I plan for my truck. For a while anyway...

you would still have a nice deep idle... a little louder but when you get on it in will get very loud and more raspy. If you search on youtube for fbodys or gtos you will find a bunch of comparisons.
