When I am pulling my trailer up a grade my engine and transmision temps redline. I have a 2005 2500HD with 35" tires and my trailer is a 30' travel trailer.

I'd start by checking fan clutch and radiator condition.

I would also upgrade to a larger external trans cooler

Please provide some data for us to chew on......What engine is in your truck? What gear are you in when the overheating is occurring, what engine rpm is this occurring at? What % grade are we talking about? What are the ambient temps you are driving in?Are you using tow/haul mode?

The problem is obviously the 35`s but I had same issue with mine, I run a 1500 with 5.3l, 3.73`s and 35`s and haul a 32ft trailer. I found that when running @95-100kph in third with tow/haul on that if it shifted down to 2nd the tow/haul was holding it in 2nd too long and my temps were climbing very high so I tried shutting tow/haul off and it seemed to shift easier and temps came back down, I have since installed a aftermarket tranny cooler which helped as well but if climbing a long hill in hot ambient temps temps will still climb up but as soon as you I crest hill temps come back down. better tranny cooler is a definite must and regearing for the larger tires would also help if you can afford it.
