I have a 2011 silverado 5.3 six speed automatic.

It wont start and the security light is on the remote lock and unlocks the doors.

does anyone know how to reset the security on this vehicle.

PLEASE ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.

Might be worth a try.

SECURITY RE-LEARN:

STEP 1: Leave key in the run position for 10-12 minutes (until security light shuts off). Make sure no accessories are on and that your headlights are switched to the off position.

STEP 2: Remove Key from ignition for 45 seconds

STEP 3: Repeat steps 1-3 times. on the fourth start attempt, the vehicle should start and the re-learn is complete.

I don't know if that helps, or if that even has anything to do with your issue, but that is straight from the instructions that I got when I installed my new ECM and TCM from Justin at Blackbear. That is the Security Re-learn. If that don't help, than I'm sure someone else here can help you with more info.

Yea, I think so....

That is the way I understood it. Its been a couple of years since I got my tune and had to do it, but I think I did those steps 3 times, then tried to start it on the 4th.

Even if it does work, a better question is why did it not start all of a sudden? Was this just out of the blue? If it was, I would ask around (even dealership if you have to), and find out what caused this issue.

Why not use your warrenty and let the dealer do it. There may very well be a something wrong.

GOT MY TRUCK FIXED.

I got the guy who installed my aftermarket remote start to come to my house and check it out.

turns out he had a wire hooked up that wasnt supposed to hooked up FUC**** DUMBASS!!!

It also blew the BCM (body control module) fuse, its a 2A fuse under the hood.

He also had to clear the code from the computer , which is why the security light was on.

So it all working good now. thanks for the input from all who responded.

WORD TO THE WISE ONLY LET A COMPANY THAT HAS INSTALLED ONE THESE BEFORE INSTALL ANY AFTERMARKET COMPONENTS.

And there you have it.

That's one of the reasons why I just paid the $200, and got the factory remote start added before I had it delievered.
