Advice On 2006 Yukon Purchase

My first post on the site and I'm needing some advice on a 2006 Yukon. I've used the search feature and instead of just searching numerous questions I wanted to put it all in one thread.

I'm looking at purchasing this 2006 Yukon for my wife to drive

I'm new to Yukons but what appeals to me about this vehicle is the low miles and the fact that is has the same L59 engine as my 06 Chevy and after 135K on my truck I haven't had any major problems with it. I'll list my questions below.

- It's a 5.3L and has 3.73 gears so what kind of gas mileage can I expect out of the 3.73 gears? My truck has 3.42's and I'm averaging 17.5 mpg

- Are those the stock wheels for a 06 Yukon in the picture?

- I'm a little leary about the 2WD version since we seem to get a blizzard every year here in OK. Any experience driving a 2WD Yukon in the snow?

- Lastly any thing I note worthy about this model I should check for when I look at it?

Regards,

Richard

We have a 2wd Tahoe (2008) and live in Indiana. We get plenty of snow here and the 2wd has worked fine for us. Never been stuck in it. Does the one your looking at have the G80 (locking rear end)? That will help with traction.

You can expect lower gas milage with the 3.73 vs 3.42's (not comparing to your truck but to another Yukon)

According to the VIN and Compnine.com it does have the G80 so that's good.

I know gas mileage between the two gears wouldn't be to different I just have no clue what to expect. I plan to reset the mpg on the computer when I test drive it so that will hopefully give my some indication of what to expect because I've played with my trucks enough.

Well, bummer should have waited a little longer to post this thread. This Yukon is out, I guess I was just reading past the line that said it was a "southern comfort conversion". I'm wanting a vehicle that's as close to stock as possible without any mods. I guess that answers my question about the wheels, they are definitely not stock.

Okay, obviously I'm can't make up my mind. I had emailed the dealer over the weekend and they responded to a couple questions I had and one was about the wheels. They are saying they are factory GM wheels. Can anyone tell me if they are? I've been searching and can't seem to find a GM match.

I might be able to get over the southern comfort conversion, they said the computer listed the engine hours at 2029 hrs. which seems low.
