2002 HD bed rails

I've noticed the bed rails on my 2002 HD long bed are starting to buckle/warp.  It looks like somone hit the top of my bed rails with a hammer.  The heaviest thing I have hauled in the back of my bed has been my fourwheeler, so I know it's not from overloading.

Has anyone else had a problem with their bed rails buckleing/warping?

is it just on top?  Or the sides of the bed too?

I have stood on mine no problems

I also added bedrail caps to mine which protect them

I chalk it up to cheap sheet metal.  Thinner and thinner each yr.  They arent built like they used to be :D

I don't have any problems yet, but I also haven't leaned or put anything heavy on them.  My dad has a S-10 and being it's lower, people have a tendency to lean on it with their elbows when they are standing around the truck BS'ing, etc.  It has this hail-type dents all the way down.  He told me about it and it is very evident.  I attribute this to the thin sheetmetal.

Yup definately the thin sheet metal get some diamond plate or some plastic covers they will save your bed rails especially if you are dumping things like rock and such into your bed.  Just my $0.02

The dents are just on the top of the rails.  I guess I'll go to the dealer and see what they tell me.  More than likely I'll end up getting some diamond plated bed caps.

What's a good brand of diamond plated bed caps?

REG............There has been MANY complaints about

flimsy bed rail tops I have seen on a few boards.

Esp. when folks mount tool boxes etc.  GM has a

kit out to reinforce (spl) them.  Not sure if its free

or not. When I mounted my tonneau cover frame

I placed a piece of wood between the clamp

underneath the rail so it wouldn't bend it up..geo
