How about some more info? Rim size?

If your not going to put a leveling kit on your pretty much limited to stock size tires for the most part.

Stock tires are 265/70/17

You can fit 275/70/17

Which are 0.5" taller and 0.5" wider. Same size that stock 20s have 275/55/20

Ok what about 285/60/17? 1inch taller same width

First off I never seen a tire in that size.

Second your not reading the tire size the right way.

285= tire width in mm

60= percent of sideway to tread

17= wheel size

275/70/17 is the exact same size as 275/55/20. The width is the same and the percent goes lower as the sideway goes smaller.

275/70/17 = 275/65/18

265/70/17 = 265/65/18

285/70/17 = 285/65/18

285= tire width in mm

60= percent of sidewall height to overall width of the tire at it's widest point (not the tread width)

17= wheel diameter in inches

275/70/17 is the exact same size as 275/55/20. The width is the same and the percent goes lower as the sideway goes smaller.

275/70/17 = 275/65/18 = 32.2" in Diameter

265/70/17 = 265/65/18 = 31.6" in Diameter

285/70/17 = 285/65/18 = 32.8" in Diameter

A 275/55/20 tire is only 31.9" in diameter so it's a bit smaller in OD than a 275/70/17 or 275/35/18.

I added the OD (outer diameter to the above) to give more complete information. And actually the definition of the aspect ratio was not quite accurate. I've changed it and added unit of measurement to wheel size. I believe tires are the only item manufactured in any industry that mixes both inches and metric measurements.

You need a leveling kit. That is a 33 and is what I run on my truck minus the 17s

This thread has some excellent info regarding tire size, thanks to Nadielite and Lowrider. Could the Mod pin this to the top of the wheels and rims forum for quick ref? May save a lot of searching for the illusive tire size!

what size rims do you have?

Stock 20s with 275/60/20 coopers

Ok but doesn't the rim size effect the tire size aswell?

I have an NBS 07 Sierra with 275/70/17 Goodyear Silent Armors on the factory rims. They are a plus 1 size and measure 32.16" tall x 10.83" wide. The drivers side front will rub just ever so slightly while backing left at full lock. I wouldn't go any taller without a leveling kit. There are very few tires that are made this size in the 17" rim.

I tried to attach a pic but it was too large... sorry I will have to figure that out.
