Oem Grill Inserts

i have a '11 silverado with the body painted grill. i and the mesh in the grill is chrome, i know that the non color chrome grills have black mesh in the back. can i take my chrome mesh out and put black in there. or is it all one piece, if it isnt anyone have an idea on a part number?

all one piece, youd have to get an aftermarket grill that you cut out the oem parts and install the new grill

 

 

 

edit: ok technically they're two piece, but they're plastic welded together with lots of tabs, if you really wanted to get into it you can buy the whole other grill, and very carefully grind down the "welds" on both grills, swap the mesh over and re "weld"/melt the pieces back together

Or you can think about masking your grill and spraying the chrome black
