Vcim Upgrade

I have a2007 silverado with a bad vcim on the on star system. Before I purchase a new one I was wondering if. There are any advantages of getting a 2011 module or any other year.

I have a2007 silverado with a bad vcim on the on star system. Before I purchase a new one I was wondering if. There are any advantages of getting a 2011 module or any other year.

 

The main advantage is getting bluetooth. Assuming you have the new body style 2007 you can put a bluetooth vcim in and get bluetooth. You will not get OnStar though. I assume you want OnStar to work, and that is why you need a vcim? I have the original vcim out of my 2010 Sierra, no bluetooth though, just a basic vcim.
