New Stainless Capped Lug Nuts

Just took off my rear wheels this weekend to install some new mud flaps on my brand new 2011 Sierra Z-71. Found 4/12 of the stainless capped lug nuts were cracked or split on the stainless part. Is this a common problem with these lug nuts??

OE wheel nuts that have the chrome or stainess cap over top of a normal metal nut have been doing this as long as they have been making nuts that way. Worst design ever for something that important. What happens when you have a flat tire and the metal caps are split and swollen up with rust between the cap and the nut? You cannot get the nut off with the tools that GM gives you to change the tire. The lug nut wrench will not fit over the swollen nut. I suggest you go to ebay and get yourself a complete set of chrome lug nuts to replace the oem ones.
