Need Opinions On New Tires

Looking to dump these Goodyear Eagle LS2 P275/55/20 tires for a little wider/taller LT tire. Have been looking at the Cooper Zeon LTZ in 275/60/20, Cooper Discoverer H/T Plus 305/50/20 and Nitto Terra Grappler in 285/55/20. Not really interested in the BFG All Terrain KO as I've heard their tread compound is now different and they don't last as long as teh old ones. Plus they're about $400 per tire. Installing tires on a 2011 Silverado Crew Cab 4x4 with the RC level kit 1307. Any suggestions from those who have upgraded their tires on the new model GM trucks? Prefer not to cut any metal and little to no plastic. I know Stevens11 likes his Cooper 305/50/20 tires.

I've been through a lot of truck tires over the years and finally bit the bullet for a set from Michelin. The LTX M/S2 in 265/75-16 E. I've only had them on for ~6000 miles and so far they're worth every penny. Quiet, smooth ride, excellent wet handling and snow traction. I don't think they'd clean out good enough to work very well in any serious mudding applications though. I haven't done any towing yet, but I expect they'll perform as well as any other tire I've had on a non-dually. Based on my satisfaction so far, I've decided as long as they're available I'll never buy anything else for a daily use truck. They're only advertised in one of the sizes you're thinking about: 275/60-20

I have the LTX M/S on my wife's Tahoe. Great tire, rides awesome, and always holds the air pressure with little or no leaks between tire pressure checks. Was looking to get something a little more "truckish".

Get the Zeon's in 275/60 or 305/50 and never look back. You will love them.

2nd choice would be the Nitto's and I wouldn't even consider the Cooper H/T Plus because they look like street tires.

I have the cooper discoverer's and love them. I had the Zeon's prior. They are an awesome road tire with a nice tread pattern. Very pleased with them. :sigh: If your not offroading I highly recommend the Discoverers.

I was actually looking at getting some Cooper Zeon's as my next tire because you and others had good things to say. Do you like the Cooper Discovery's better? I had coopers on a dodge conquest (that was a fun car) back in my college days and thought they were great. Also what diameter are the 305/50/20's your running?

Well, I gotta say, I do like the Discoverer's H/T plus's better than the Zeon LTZ's. ONLY because they are a better road tire. I really struggled on which tire to get... Zeon's or H/T Plus's. Both are awesome tires and you can't go wrong either way. But I just couldn't justify getting the Zeon's because of the aggressive tire tread compared to the H/T's. I spend WAY more time on the road and wanted to be a little more practical. The Discoverer's have a softer sidewall too so a smoother ride. I'm not towing much anymore so these made more sense to get.

Now.... I got a little more than 50,000 miles out of the Zeon's and If I don't get at least that out of the Discoverer's, I'll be going back to the Zeon's.

I had the Michelin LTX A/T2 on my 2005 Sierra, and wasn't impressed with them. They sure are expensive regardless of what size yuo get, but they do seem to hold their air pressure bettern than any other brand tire I've had.

I just can't force myself to pay what Michelin wants, and they look like the tires my parents have on their Chevy station wagon.....

.....BUST THAT NOISE! I want a truck tire that looks the part.

looks the part of what? i was looking at your pics and the chinese tires on the 1/2ton 2wd has got me stumped.

I have been debating now for a month between the H/T Plus and Zeon LTZs. My dilemma is that I have a 1.5" leveling kit and want a larger tire that will not rub on my mud guards. I was leaning towards the Zeon 275/70R18 but am nervous they will rub too much. I love the looks of the zeons but am nervous because it's a 33" tire. I use my truck 95% of the time to commute back and forth to work so anything too aggressive is impractical. I'm going to look more into the Discoverers. If I had a 20" rim I'd easily go with the zeons.
