Removing Front Air Dam On 2011 Silverado

This may not be the proper forum for this question.

I've read in the owners manual that removing the front air dam will give additional clearance for off-roading (duh). It also states that operating the vehicle for extended periods without the front fascia lower air dam installed can cause improper airflow to the engine. I've noticed some on this forum do not have the air dam installed on their sig pics. Does anyone have any experience with improper airflow by leaving the air dam off? The trucks definitely look better without the air dam. Just thought I would ask.

I've only had mine off for a few hundred miles but notice no difference other than the look. I don't think you'll have a problem. From what I see on mine all the air flow to the radiator and coolers are from the grilles and slots below the grille.

I have never heard of anyone who had problems with it overheating after removing. My uncle workes with oil companies and when he say my truck he said oh good you removed that bottom plastic and he was saying when they get a gm truck that is the first thing they do is take it off because they just get destroyed. Since then I have been looking at various gm work trucks I see around and it seems a lot do have them removed.

Took mine off the first weekend I had it in March. No issues at all.
