Creeking In Interior

I have a 2011 chevy 1500 crew with 12,000 miles on it. When I go over bumps at low speed there is a loud creeking noise. Also my doors sometime leaking air, but it is nothing major.I have had it to two dealers and nothing fixed. First dealer said all panels were tight and called it good. Second dealer checked panels and adjusted doors to close tighter. Still makes the noise. I thought it may be the door seal making noise, so i tried pitting some spray silicon on it with no improvement. Also have tried putting felt tape on seals with no improvement. Any idea what might be causing this noise?

My '07 went back to the dealer numerous times for issues like this. Prior to this truck, my '94 K1500 had 266,000 miles ... yet, had a more quiet interior than my $30K + 2007. Go figure ...

It seems most of the noise is coming from the upper seat belt mounts on the center post. Also, if I don't slam the doors like we did in the '70's I'll get all kinds of noises. I basically gave up on the dealer & just lubed the hinges/latches, siliconed the weatherstripping, & lubed the seat belt mounts. Still not perfect but better than it was. 3 trips to the dealer couldn't fix it.

Last new vehicle I ever buy, I can tell you that much! :D

So in other words, there is no solution. Did they try replacing your door seals? I think I may try that

mine squeaks as well, and the dealer could not do much. I thin the main problem is that everything snaps together and is not screwed in like they used to be. So without screws holding fast, everything can wiggle a little bit causing the squeaks.

I would keep going to the dealer and let them spend money on your truck. It is still under warranty, so I would not spend any money on seals.

Good luck and let us know if you find a cure!

The dealers do not believe it is a problem

So after another trip to dealer, they claim to have a fix. It involves new door seal, replacing hinge with adjustable hinge, and new top weatherstripping with anti-rattle tape. Will post tomorrow if problem is fixed. Is currently being worked on.

What was replaced? Just the door seals?

Extended cab? Over three years, and no creaks or noises on my crew cab...

2011 Crew. The door seal was replaced, and the very top piece of weather stripping was replaced. Pickup now is a quiet as it should be. There is a service bulletin for the creeking apparently.

When my extended cab was new in '07, the dealer couldn't seem to fix the issue so I gave up. Good to know there's a service bulletin out for that - FINALLY.

Does anyone know if the presence of a service bulletin on a certain problem means this will be covered even if your out of the warranty period?

No, not officially at least but I will tell you this, if you have a good working relationship with your dealer they should be able to "goodwill" warranty the repair for you on something like this. It's worth a shot. If they don't help, contact GM Customer Assistance Center to file a complaint.

GM eliminated that dealer I bought it from ... and then the other dealer I found close by soon afterward .... so I guess you could say that relationship ended ...

I don't expect them to go out of their way to make me happy, as I only visit the dealer for warranty or recall work anyway. I'll end up fixing it myself if I get around to it.

I have experienced something silimiliar in my 09 Burb (some sort of rattle near the driver's side seat belt mount or door lock area. Was to the dealer multiple times and they could never correct it.

Very annoying....

My 09 EX cab has the same squeeks, pure silconed all door seals, lubed all moving hinges-locks etc.

still have the noise! I have not tried the seatbelt roof mount yet, but I will. I have noticed that the sound changes when the windows are opened a little bit? May be dirt in the felt window seals/wipes?

I have 26,000 onthe clock and yes its very annoying that a new truck is this squeeky !!!!!

I have Dealer installed step bars as many new trucks do and this involves loosening the cab mounts to put on the steps maybe these are not tightend to factory specs have dirt in there and are now the source

of the squeeks????? Help!

    • Yep! This should be a pin somewhere as @pgamboa really dives into all of this. Thanks for reposting the link!
    • I did the new thermostat after doing a 'flip' for a year. Runs as cool one way as the other in the summer but in the winter there is a bit of a floor. Yellow with the new 70 C thermostat. My data over the life of the unit to date. Still need more cooler. Anyway that floor helped both winter fuel economy and shift quality in the winter. I found it a good balance.
    • Evan Williams Bottled in Bond   So pouring the last of a bottle of Evan Williams Black label last night I set off the the state store for a refill only to be denied the by an empty shelf. Rats.    What the did have was a bottle of Evan Williams Bottled in Bond. 100 proof. Hum, a few bucks more but a known distiller. Lets have a swing at it. ( I have before )    Cracked it open and pour a serving over ice. Hum.... more heat, yes. More alcohol naturally. But the barreling not the proof brings the taste and this one came up short.    Oh is was familiar but the heat ran the barrel over like a Peterbilt runs over a squirrel. Could use a heavier toasting of the oak me thinks or perhaps a longer barreling. Who knows. But what I can say is ice or a water back isn't the answer. What kills one kills them both. Sad. It is a pleasant drink....if you have little to compare it to.
    • I've had exactly one set of Bridgestone. Lasted five year and 125,000 miles and had I known better 15oK would have been a cake walk. I would have bought a like set had they not tripled in price since the first set. I removed them at said mileage with 5/32" remaining in dead even wear all four. They were fuel efficient, quite, comfortable and predictable.    Early on I got a very good alignment checked at least once a year, sometimes twice; kept the tires properly inflated, balanced and rotated. And I've found that many a tire issue can be avoided with great maintenance practices. Lot's of tire dealers will do rotation and balance (simple) for free for as long as you own the tire they sold you so no excuse not to.    Bead prep, alloy integrity and stem health have a huge impact on inflation stability. There are more mountings done poorly that perfectly. Finding a good tire guy is gold and as important as finding a tire you like.    That 3X price increase now two sets of "other tires' later is starting look like a bargain.      Bad maintenance kills more tires than bad tires.
    • Atlas, you kill me As aggravating as a project like this can be you have been unable to hide your fascination with learning and using that angst against this beast like a Ninjitsu Master. It amuses you, admit it now.      BTW, love your writing style. 😉
