89 Silverado Question

Hi Guys,

Ok so I'll admit it's been ages since i've been in here and I actually don't own a truck anymore. Blasphemy I know but, I have a question. My Dad is working on a truck for a friend and just finished rebuilding the whole engine from the heads up. He had it running for like 2 minutes last night and now it won't stay running and apparently no fuel is getting to the engine itself.

It's an 89 Silverado with the 305 in it. I am at work and he's asked me to pose the question in hopes there might be some gearheads out there that may have some suggestions. He says the fuel pump primes but, nothing gets through. So I'm thinking clogged line or something like that or bad injector or Injector module???

Suggestions.

Thanks guys

Sorry I've been away so long

Dont know if you got it fixed yet but the 89 is a TBI engine. Check the fuel filter first, if thats not the problem then unhook fuel lines from the throttle body and make sure its not clogged up. Also, when you check the fuel filter you can check the pump at the same time. It may sound like its pumping but that dont always mean it is. Definitely check that while youre there.

My 93 K1500 had a similar problem. Turned out to be the fuel pump relay on the firewall. Do a web search on how to check the relay before you tear into the fuel pump/filter assembly.
