Want Tpms On My 2011 1 Ton Chevy

I just purchased a 2011 Chevy dually. My last truck was a 2009 3500 SRW, and it had TPMS.

 

This new truck did not come with TPMS, which surprised me, but the dealer service counter told me 1 ton trucks do not require TPMS.

 

Is there a way I can make my 2011 use the stock TPMS system...in other words, it would show up using the truck's DIC and show up on the instrument panel?

 

I have an external system I use for my trailer, and can always use this, but would prefer it to be part of my truck's electronics.

I read the thread...thanks.

hmmm, I gotta think it is a simple computer update and some sensors...actually finding somebody that can do it is another matter.

 

I can add my own if necessary...

 

edit: the more I think about it, I bet all it takes is the hardware. I am sure all the chevy trucks have the same code...the code just looks for the hardware, and then adopts to what is there. I dont know, but I bet you could add the wheel sensors and then plug in the main engine TPMS, and it would work just fine.

I think you will find the option needs to also support 6 wheels, so it may not be as easy as you think. Can believe that GM would had the ability to use TPMS and not have it as at least as an option.
