Looking For New Muffler

I am wanting to put a new muffler on my 2010 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3. I want something that has a nice throaty growl but isnt obnoxious. Can I go with just a muffler or do I need a complete cat back system? Thanks.

I have been a proponent of Magnaflow in the past, but I have started to notice that my 28" muffler has started to drone a bit on the highway, especially if the RPM stay around 2200.

 

Ive heard the Corsa makes a good one, but they are a little more expensive from what Ive seen.

 

Also, you can just replace the muffler and use the factory tailpipe. Pretty easy to do it yourself if you have a MIG welder handy, but any muffler shop can do it for just a few dollars plus the cost of the muffler.

i just put a magnaflow 22 inch on mine about a week ago, and i love it. I kept the stock piping on it. i would highly recommend them, its not load and it doesnt drone on the high way. the part number is 12589. flowmasters are crap IMO. i got the magnaflow for 106 dollars off bizrate as opposed to 200 from the website.

Put about 10K miles on it and it will start to drone a little. It wont be anywhere near what a flowmaster does, but it will begin to drone once the fiberglass starts to compact inside the case.

Well I hear that cherry bomb extreme's are a really good sounding muffler. Maybe look into those

I would submit for your consideration, the Dynomax #17233 UltraFlow Welded stainless steel muffler. 20" body, 3" in/out. Low rumble sound with no noticeable drone when AFM kicks in. JMO

Just get a muffler don't waste ya money on a full system. I have 3" dynomax vt and a corsair dual tip out stock location and love it. I would get it or a dyno ultra flow or a magnaflow. The vt when cruisingsm sounds stock but When acceleration or u punch it valve opens get louder.

CORSA for the win. No Drone ever. I have had the Sport and Touring. I prefer the Sport. My dad had a CORSA cat back on his 00 Cadillac Deville DHS. Awesome systems well worth the money in my opinion.
