New Tire Question

I have 275/55/20 tires on my truck right now and I'm thinking of going up to a 275/60/20. My truck has the 5.3 with the 3.08 rear end. Will I mess up by going with a slightly taller tire or will I be ok?

The only thing that will change is your speedo, and with the tall gear you may lose a bit of your bottom end. It will be out maybe 1-2mph, nothing crazy. I had a set on my truck and there were no issues at all. The only thing that I would see is if they fit properly. It may be a bit tight with a 2wd truck, but if yours is 4wd then it should be ok (slightly higher).

You will not mess up anything, you will just lose some power. The 6 speed makes up the difference and for the 3.08 in the rear end. Make sure you have a leveling kit or they won't clear.

I have a two inch leveling kit on it and it is a 4wd. The 3.08 rear end scares me more than anything. Does your truck have the 3.08 rear end?

No I have a 4 speed with 3.73 which is about the same as the 6 speed with 3.43.

I wouldn't worry about your it, the gears you have are fine.

Thanks for the info. I plan on going with the slightly larger tire because I cant stand all of the space in the wheel well. It just looks funny having a small tire on a truck.

Hello, your truck looks awesome. I have a question for you, I'm having the Revtek 2" leveling kit put on my 2011 Sierra Monday and really hmmming and hawing on a couple things. One of my first concerns was voiding any GMC warranty but the dealership assures me the alignment will be back in OEM spec plus having it done by them (for a little more money) I'm figuring I have more to fall back on if there are any issues done the road.

Second concern, planning on keeping the stock rims and tires for an undetermined amount of time, I'm ok with a little more space in front as I don't have the money for rims and/or tires at the moment. Have you towed anything comparable to a 2 place snowmobile trailer or say a 16" fishing boat with the lift on, if so, how much sag did you have in the back, assuming you haven't added additional lift or supports in back?

Third question, not concern...any difference in handling and/or gas mileage?

the difference in the size of those tires is like an inch. I plan to go the same route in tires. I don't think you'll notice any difference other than maybe a mph on the speedo. go for it.

Thanks, nice looking truck. I'll be sure to post before and after of mine.
