Onstar App Update, They Finally Added Something Useful

OnStar App had an update last night on my ipad and Android phone.

 

 

They added GPS routing to it, using Google Maps thru the App you can enter an address, or search for a POI, then send the address/destination directly to the GPS in your vehicle (must have onstar directions and connections service).

 

 

using the voice command on my Android phone I was able to speak the name of the Restaurant I wanted, google maps located it, and I clicked the link to "send to GPS" (you can also send to the OnStar turn by turn if you don't have GPS but have OnStar Turn-by-Turn service)..

 

downloaded to my GPS in the time I sat at a red light..

up to now I didn't find much use for the app, I have remote start on my key fob and I can read my TPMS and Gas Gauge in the Truck.

 

This however makes the app worth something to me, now if they would just add a "locate your vehicle" using the GPS so if someone steals it you can track it, and maybe the features they use to reduce power and flash the lights.. Then they would have a completely kick ass app and justification (for me) to maintain the service after my free trial is over.

Thanks for this I have a droid and added the app will be nice untill the free sub runs out for OnStar.
