Hey guys

 

I'm in need of new tires to replace my BFG Long Trails. I've had nothing but problems with these for the last 6 months. I bought them from Sam's club and have already replaced two fronts for new ones (they wouldn't give me 4 :puke:  ).

 

I've never had problems before with the BFG's, but these are way too noisy. My mechanic told me it is because it is the way they stack them and it warps the belts...

 

Anywho, I'm replacing them and want to go elsewhere this time (Sam's has their own "brand" made for them, like Sears)

 

Michelin's are too expensive, so I'm not going that route. Suggestions?

Had the stock Firestone 265/75/16 on my 99 Rado z71 replaced with Bridgestone Dueler AT Revos at 39k.  The wet traction is excellent compared to the f-stones.  Took a trip to Kentucky a few weeks back from Cleveland and they rode smooth and quiet.  Thumbs up so far.

I have Cooper Discoverer A/T's right now and they are GREAT so far. Seems like they stick better on wet roads :puke: . I am just hopin they'll last half as long as Michelins because they are half the price.

I've run 305/70R16 Goodyear AT/S and they are a good tire

I currently have a set of 285/75R16's and I love them...they are kinda loud but they have enough nobby to get you into and more importantly out of mud and do a little singing on the road...

The Suburban I just got for my wife has a new set of Toyo Open Country AT's on it and they look really sharp.  No idea of price, but I noticed in the new Truck Trend they put a set on their project Tacoma.  I've only driven them in snow so far, but so far so good -

I'm going to go for a set of the 285/75R/16 BFG AT's after the holidays.  I've heard nothing but good things about them.  But that's just me....

 

Definitely stay away from the :puke: Fire/Bridgestones.  I couldn't stant the stock ones that came with the truck.....lousy excuse for a tire!

Thanks for the replies. Looks like the new tires are on hold and the money is going to brakes instead  :puke: . One of my pads seems like it broke out from the caliper... if it isn't one thing, it's another  :puke:

I also have the 285 Coopers and I think they're great. Only about 2,000 mi. They're also very good in the snow, and if price is an object, they can't be beat. :puke:

www.nokiantire.com - I just picked a set up for the Trailblazer.  I got the WR model for $99.50 each.  They appear to be a really nice tire.  Basically a snow tire that is rated for all year use with excellent wet weather traction.  I think I might try their truck tire next time I need them.  I haven't been satisfied with any tire in my whole life, but these look promising so far.

The BFG At's are a good pick.  I've had them on 3 trucks and they worked great.  Got about 10k on my 285's with minimal wear, little road noise and good on and offroad traction.

I have replaced the tires on my last three vehicles with Cooper Discoverer's. The last set were ATs. They are great in snow. I plan on getting some when my Firestone's wear out.

If you want a smooth quiet ride... the only way to go is Michelin.

 

I just put their Cross Terrain SUV tires on my '00 Silverado and love 'em.

 

Of course you sound more like you want A/T tires... so these may not be the best for you, although their wet traction so far is easily 5 times that of the crappy goodyears my truck came with from the factory.

      2026 6.6 L5P oil cooler leaking oil at 4,000 miles

      New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?

      Seems to be Missing a lot of Updates

      So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.

      Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.

      That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.
