Truck Broken Into

So last night both out cars were broken into. my truck a 2004 Sierra with factory keyless/alarm whatever it is. And a 2009 Pontiac G6 factory keyless/alarm/remote start. When dealing with the police, my breother rambled on about how i lock him in and he sets the alarm off when he tries to get out. Well that no longer works. how would they have disabled my alarm? Or even got in without a scratch?

Items taken

My truck:

IPod touch/sync cable

Phone car charger

and my Autocal by Black Bear

Also my console lid was broken

My Mom's G6:

$600 cashier's check

2 check books

$20 in cash

2 CD's

I'm curious if anyone has any info on how they got in. Other than my console lid there was no damage to either vehicle

This part doesn't make sense:

"When dealing with the police, my breother rambled on about how i lock him in and he sets the alarm off when he tries to get out. Well that no longer works."

It sounds like your answer may be in there somewhere though....... :fume:

we checked it because she said it should go off when the lock is popped. it doesnt anymore. i am curious how they disabled it. all fuses look in tact

any damage around the door handle molding? something a jimmi jammer would prevent? sorry to hear about this, it's annoying when dipshits take what is not theirs. best defense in my opinion is to leave absolutely nothing of value in your truck.

cop said those things. no damage around door handles. only the driver door was used to enter. cop seemed to also think a balloon was used

Sounds like the cop did it. LOL

Sorry, just thought Ide lighten the mood. I know how much that sucks because I got hit a couple of years ago. They broke into my DD, my hunting truck, and my work truck. They got over $1200 worth of stereo equipment, $500 worth of hunting stuff, including the knife my grandfather gave me, and the ag department's GPS out of the work truck. It sucks to be in that position. Sorry to hear that.

Ask your brother where your stuff is..... If you locked me in your truck, I'd steal your stuff too...... :( j/k

The only way to shut-off the alarm is with the remote. Even if you open the door with the key, the alarm will go off. A slim-jim, balloon or hand grenade would do the same thing. The alarm is set electronically, not manually.

Maybe there are thieves with a bunch of remotes, driving around trying them on vehicles....... :fume:

if you use the key in the drivers door it will not set the alarm off, i see both cars are GM's take your vin numbers down the the local dealer to see if they have any records of a spare key or remote being ordered from them also make sure to take all your stuff out of the car if they do have a remote that means they can get back into your cars again

and just a reminder to all its not conman what happened to chaw but it can happen try to put somthing in front of your vin tags, i have seen this a few times before

On my '06 Silverado and my '07 Saturn, opening the driver door with the key will set off the alarm.

Same deal on my '03. If it gets locked with the remote, it has to get unlocked with the remote to avoid setting the alarm off.

Have a good Viper or Clifford 2-way alarm professionally installed ($400 to $600), get a Tuffy locking console for your gear, and a Billy Bat steering wheel lock. Keep valuables out of sight. Had a car broken into over ten years ago and learned a painful lesson. All you can do is make the thieves want to move on to an easier target.

This can come back to bite you sometimes too. My roommate in college was moving in after the summer and his mother locked the keys in her Blazer, and the spare set was 8 hours away at home. The GM dealer said check the VIN and they could cut a key, but she had an envelope covering the VIN. Luckily, the campus police provide unlocking service anywhere within 1 mile of campus for free to students. Otherwise, she would have been screwed, and had to have paid out the nose for a locksmith.

i have had spare remotes and keys made, but that was in fl. i know my local buick/gmc/pontiac dealer will not cut a key unless you have the cars registration paperwork and yourname is on it and you have your drivers license with you

Wouldn't you think that would be common sense???? You'd be amazed at how many dealerships will give out the key code over the phone or make a key just because you show up with the VIN and "Look" respectable. :fume:

I would lean toward the balloon. When I locked the keys in my truck. The locksmith slipped a balloon in and created a crack just enough to take a rod and hit the door unlock button. He was there all of 5 minutes and less than 1 to get in. No alarm (GM factory) went off when he opened the door either.
