Lifting a 2wd Silverado

Recommended Posts

I am thinking about lifting my 2wd '02 Silverado only about 1-2 inches in the front to give it a level appearance.  Any ideas on how this would affect the ride and the best way to do it (blocks??).  Later on I would like to add some larger wheels and tires and I thought the lift may help the look.

Do a search for Ford keys and torsion bars on here.

From what I read the procedure is pretty easy and cheap to do.  I was going to do the lift myself but I'm the least mechanically inclined person on this board. :puke:

2WD's don't have torsion bars, unless it's a 2500.

You may be able to put some kind of spacer under the front coil springs, or replace the springs that will lift it.  Not sure on the details of doing either of those though.

I want to do the same to my 2wd and I think you can get replacement spendles that can raise the front end $$.  I would like to know if you can put a "donut" spacer on top of the spring to raise the front.   I would think that a front end alignment would be in order if you went that route.

I put a set of Daystar spacers on my 1998 C1500 and it raised it about 1.25 inches.  Made it ride a little firmer, but that was fine with me.  You will need an alignment afterwards.
