Seat Belt Minder

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! I just picked up a GMC Sierra the other day and I am loving every minute of it! I want to take it off road soon and don't wear myseat belt whenever I do. I do not want to hear that chime go off every few mintues. Does anyone know how to turn this crap off. The manual doesn't say anything. If I have to I'll just attach the seat belt before I get in or I'll turn up the stereo!.

Thank you,

Rich

Frankly I'd want to be buckled in off road as I've hit sudden drops on trails in the past that would've literally tossed me from the driver seat but that's your choice I guess. I think mine turns off after a couple of cycles though. I've never really left the belt off long enough to check. :D

Thanks for the suggestion guys. The place I go off road is mostly trails, mud, and hills, nothing major that could cause problems if I dont have my seat belt on. I'll just go with your suggestions. Thanks again!

I saw a post earlier on a cheap fix for this. The member (can't remember who it was) stated that you can go to your dealer and request your free seat belt extender, and then just plug it in when you are off road!

there is a connector under the seat that goes to the buckle that if you disconnect, the chime wont work.

First off, welcome to the site. There is lots of good info here.

Secondly, your statement above is stupid. I lost a good friend about ten years ago because of that kind of thinking. He was on easy trails and ended up pinned under the truck from a roll over in a rut. A buckled seat belt would have save his, and possibly your, life. Ever notice how ALL of the "professional" off roaders have 5 point harnesses? This is because you never know what may happen, even on easy stuff. PLEASE wear your seat belt. I had to be the one to tell my friends wife that he was gone...not fun.

I have a extra piece that buckles in the buckle in my farm truck....... I rarely use the seat belt in the truck riding around in the field due to the number of times I end up getting in and out opening and closing gates. Blinking lights or bells/buzzers/dingers drive me nuts. And my fields are for the most part quite flat.

But when the truck hits the black top that goes is the door panel cubby and the seat belt is used.

What happens to the air bag when the seat belt is bypassed or disabled? Not sure I would want the air bag to go off if I was not strapped in. And I mean that the air bag goes off because it is supposed to go off.

Thanks? lol. I would obviously wear my seat belt if I was going through a deep rut or something sketchy. I should have specified for when I am on easy trails. I would definitely wear my seat belt on hills and ruts. I should written that more clearly. The stuff that professionals run on is a hell of a lot worse than anything i could run into, but I get your point. I'll just wear my seatbelt.
