Time For Some Tlc On '03 Chevy Z-71

OK, time for some TLC on my '03. Truck is a extended cab Z-71, brown pewter in color with the aluminum 16" rims.

 

 

Problem #1-the plastic trim/panel that the power windows/locks are attached to has somehow come dislodged from the door panel. I looked at it as best I can-it looks as though the panel is broke. I can't see how it's attached without taking apart the whole door....I'm unsure how to fix this. I tried looking up the part # but I really can't come up with a good description of the part to even get the number. If anybody has any advice here I'm all ears. I will attach a pic if necessary.

 

Problem #2-Drivers seat power adjustment plastic panel has also come off it's seating and is now loose. Looks like the screws wallered out the holes they were set it (and a couple of screws actually came out). This part gets a little bit of wear/tear as you exit/enter the truck. The cushion actually pushes out/down on the panel, which is probably why it's loose.

 

Problem #3-Aluminum rims have the scarring/corrosion under the clear coat. Any tips/tricks here?

Also, the compass/temp on the rear-view mirror quit working a few weeks ago. It's only a minor deal, but I was wondering if maybe there's a fuse or something I can check, or is this gonna take a full replacement?

The power window / lock panel on my drivers door broke as well. There is a plastic clip on the rear of it, and if I recall, a screw on the front. I took the door panel off to replace my speaker, and used a nylon zip tie to hold the back of the panel in place. Been there for over a year with no issues. I was unable to easily locate a replacement part as well, although I did not go to the dealer.

Thanks for the info. Do you have to take apart the door, or can the panel just be removed by itself? I've tried taking apart the panel in the past but it can be a PITA.

You have to take the door panel off to get to the screw that is in front of the trim piece.

If I recall, the male portion of the clip is part of the panel that has the switches, and the female portion is mounted in the armrest, which is part of the door panel. The female part is a plastic piece that has a rectangular slot in it to accept the male portion. The female part is the one that broke.

 

I believe the female part is held onto the door panel with a screw, so it should be replaceable, but like I said, I did not readily see a part number for it, so I just secured it with a zip tie.

Apparently there was nothing wrong with the compass/temp. I reached up and pushed the buttons and it started working. Never had it go out in 8 years of ownership.

My temp/compass on my rearview goes out from time to time. sometimes I can hit the power button and it comes up fine, sometimes it comes on dimly and sometimes it doesn't come on.
