Chromed Plastic Grill Pitting

Has anybody noticed small pits in their chromed plastic grille? You can feel them when waxing and polishing the grille.

Its from being sand blasted or rock blasted.

Yip. Same here. Rocks, sand, etc pit the hell out of them.

Just the reason I keep mine chrome and I don't paint it black or buy a black one. My truck was blasted very badly by spreader trucks putting down gravel on ice and they hammered the grill and left side of the truck. I was very surprised how good the grill actaully looked after being hit so bad. I replaced it but the cost of a grill vs putting up with pits and unglyness is worth the price of admission in my opinion. The rest of my front end is holding up very well.

yep. my truck has 140,000 on it. it has it's battle scars. the grille has a few as you are talking about, the worst damage is on the outer painted parts of the bumper, where the foglights are on some trucks. paint is chipped badly here, and makes me glad that i have that hard chrome shell on the grille.

Here is a heads about rock chips in the plastic chrome. If you use a power washer be careful! I found this out the hard way. I have a powerful pressure washer and was trying to get the bugs off the chrome with the pressure washer.Big screw up! I now have ugly blisters where the water was forced thru the rock chips.
